Walls in Honfleur, Calvados -   I’ve just spent a week in the picturesque French port of Honfleur and loved the abstract patterns that are created by the timber framework of the buildings. Whilst it is rare to see such a variety of surviving timber-frame buildings in most towns these days, I’ve never seen such a variety of other textures of brick, flint, stone and tiles presented alongside in decorative patterns. When photographed in a square format they remind me of paintings by Piet Mondrian, particularly with the timbers and doorways are painted in different colours.
